College

Wow.  I guess it's time I write in this again.  I've been so busy that every second I don't have to be on this laptop, I'm not.  This little white laptop, which was my prize possession at the beginning of the semester, has become a momento of stress, hard work, and tired eyes.  I tend to avoid it in my free time.  Anyway, I sit here listening to AJ (Yes, Alan Jackson...don't like him?  You don't know real poetry then!) and I guess he's put me in the mood to write myself.

So, I'm almost a senior in college!  I could lie.  You know, give the typical "Oh my gosh, it went by sooo fast" speech, but the truth is...it didn't.  It seems like forever ago when I first started college in the fall of 2005.  Then in the spring of 2007 I took a semester off to work full time at the BGC.  I've taken so many classes!  I can't even count the endless hours of meaningless homework completed for the sole purpose of receiving a grade.  The many tears that fell due to overwhelming stress, hours of complaining, the dark feeling of it never ending...I remember it all.  So, for me, the process seems like a long, ever-lasting one.  The sight of the light at the end of the tunnel is liberating.

I guess most importantly, I could ask for no greater reward than graduating.  The hardest part is yet to come.  I begin my internship next year, and if I can be successful at that, then I can consider my college career an overall success.  Graduation will be my greatest victory.  It will be the very first thing in my life that I didn't bail out on when things got tough.  I shamefully admit that my personality is to run as soon as things get hard.  I'm not brave.  The fear of failure pushes me away.  So, for once in my life I have made it this far and I only have 1 more year left until I hold that diploma in my hand with pride.  Gosh.  I literally can't feel it.  Not until it happens.  I guess I'm just a little proud of myself already.  Because in two weeks, I am a senior in college.  And in Exactly one year from today I will be putting together the final pieces of my portfolio, preparing for my exit interview, and buying my cap and gown.

Song of My Life (At this moment)

"Livin' Part of Life" by Eric Church

I woke up early this morning
and I'm already running late
There's a list of things long as my arm I wanna get done today
Is it Tuesday, is it Wednesday
they're running into each other
Somebody tell me, when is my day
Man this life is sure
So tomorrow I'm taking me fishin'
hang a sign on the door of my life
tell the world that I've gone missing
and I wont' be back for awhile
I'm so tired of only wishin'
I could leave my trouble behind
I wanna be front porch rockin'
with a big sun droppin' and a blue sky
kick back and get high on the living part of life!

They say to keep your spot on the ladder
gotta keep that money rolling in
I've been putting in my time
and I've build up a pretty good day
I'm gonna spend some
maybe waste some
before tomorrow comes and I wind up dead
Yeah so tomorrow I'm taking me fishin'
hang a sign on the door of my life
tell the world that I've gone missing
and I wont' be back for awhile
I'm so tired of only wishin'
I could leave my trouble behind
I wanna be front porch rockin'
with a big sun droppin' and a blue sky
kick back and get high on the living part of life!

I wanna be front porch rockin'
with a big sun droppin' and a blue sky
kick back and get high on the living part of life!

Spring Break

This chick is on Spring Break! Heck ya! So you know what I have to do today? Whatever I want =) That is a good feeling that I haven't had in a long time. Okay, so it will only last a week. But it is a week well needed.

Camping season is in 2 months! Man I can't wait. At this point, I don't even care that the North Fork is a tropical rain forest and we get soaked in May. Why? Because I would rather be standing in the pouring rain on the North Fork next to the fire without a care in the world than be here right now. Wow. I sound crazy. But it's true. I just love it up there. I love the scenery, the smells, the river, the beer that gets drank at noon, the company, the atmosphere. And shortly after May passes the sun comes out and it is beautiful weather up there! Ahh summer. That is what I'm day dreaming about today.

So let's see, what shall I do today? Right now I'm eating Egos, drinking coffee, and blogging. Then I'll probably head to the gym for my Tuesday workout. Come home, shower, probably go have lunch with Lacie. Then if this sun continues to shine her and I will probably walk the bridges, followed by day 2 of cheerleading tryouts. OH and then Nathan and I were invited to dinner with his two bosses. I'm anxious for this dinner. It is with the owner of the company Nathan works for and his immediate supervisor. Nathan just got his journeyman's license so I'm assuming this is a celebration dinner. I told Nathan he has to be good news otherwise they wouldn't be taking us out to dinner but then he reminded me of the movie Jerry McGuire. So, we'll see! And that's my day. So, OCD me has a plan on a day I'm not supposed to have a plan. HA HA HA. Oh to be type A.

Babble

When I lose my mind I like to rhyme...

It's 10:00, I can't sleep
and this stress I can't keep.
If I keep living this way
my mind just might stray.
They say you have to go to college
Am I really paying for this knowledge?
My eyes are hurting, my heads a blur
I look around and there you were.
Right here with me in between
this life would make some feel green.
Yet unsatisfied I manage to be
Oh what spoiled little me.
Shamefully dissatisfied
My life needs modified.

The Reason I Love My Dog

"A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his. It was really quite simple, and yet we humans, so much wiser and more sophisticated, have always had trouble figuring out what really counts and what does not. As I wrote that farewell column to Marley, I realized it was all right there in front of us, if only we opened our eyes. Sometimes it took a dog with bad breath, worse manners, and pure intentions to help us see."

Rain

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very slowly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

Mental Exhaustion

I think I know why I am so exhausted today...it is because my head is so full of unfinished "to do's" I just have too much stuff in my head. I think this is the reason why I'm so tired on a lot of days. Nathan once told me that my plate is too full, that may be true. Okay, let me elaborate...first of all I can't stop replaying the cheerleading routines over and over in my head. It is taking up a lot of the space in my head right now. We only have two more weeks to perfect these routines and really the girls just learned the routine yesterday, so we have a long ways to go. Then I have so much homework that is due in the next couple of days and next week and everything is started but nothing is finished. I have to tutor on Tuesdays and student teach a math lesson on Thursdays. I have tons of lesson plans due, websites to create, papers to write, and tests to take. I'm overwhelmed as we are reaching the point of midterm. Also known as head deep into it. I can't stand an unfinished list. So while it may seem like no big deal...I just have cheerleading and school taking up my life we can't forget about the other little things I have to take care of...like working at the Club taking up hours of my day that I could be getting homework done. And the dishes, laundry, dinner to be cooked, cleaning house, gym, paying some attention to Nathan...I need a fucking vacation. So, I'm pretty sure this is why I am so tired today...

...Or maybe it's just because I wore my slippers today for shoes.

Stress

What would my life be without it?

That's how I feel today. Stressed. Like always. In fact, today I feel so overwhelmed that I don't even really care. Which is nice. Much nicer than making myself sick over it. I'd rather just not care. As a good friend of mine always reminds me, life is just too damn short.

So...fuck it.

Exhaustion

I AM SOOOOOO TIRED. I didn't get to bed until almost midnight last night doing homework. Up at 5:30 again this morning, headed to class until noon, worked out, had lunch with mom...now I'm getting ready to head to the 7th/8th grade game and won't get home until 7:00 tonight. Ugh. Is it Saturday yet???!

Stripped Truth

10 Random Things About Me

1. I think it's kind of fun when the power goes out.

2. I'm a planner. I like to have my days and monthly events planned out. Spontaneity is not my style.

3. I love lemons. I cut them in half, sprinkle salt on them, then spoon out the insides and enjoy. Most people find this disturbing--I can't get enough of them!

4. I'm the only chick I know that doesn't like chick flicks. I think they are cheesy and display a false perception of what real love is all about. I like a movie with valid content. Or humor.

5. I'm afraid of the dark. Honestly, seriously, afraid of the dark.

6. I don't have any girl friends because I don't trust women.

7. I think I'm addicted to food. When I gain a few pounds I try to quit eating poor nutrition foods and I can't do it.

8. I go hunting because of the way Nathan looks at me after I kill something. This look generally doesn't leave his face for a few days. Such pride makes me proud of myself. Let this diminish the rumor that I hunt to impress other people.

9. I generally don't cry anymore, I have no reason to unless I'm watching a sad movie. However, when I go a long time without crying the tears fall just because it feels good.

10. Drivers that don't use their blinkers properly are my number 1 pet peeve. I get extremely irritated when a driver uses their blinker too early, too late, or not at all. Especially not at all!

Free Fallin'

This song is my remedy these days...
(remake by John Mayer)

She's a good girl,
Love's her momma,
Loves Jesus,
And America too,
She's a good girl,
Crazy bout Elvis,
Love's horses,
And he boyfriend too yeah yeah,

It's a long day,
Living in Reseda,
There's a freeway,
Running through the yard,
I'm a bad boy,
Cause i don't even miss her,
I'm a bad boy,
For Breaking her heart,

And I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
And I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'

All the vampires,
Are walkin' through the valley,
The move west down,
Ventura Boulevard,
And all the bad boys,
Are standing in the shadows,
And the good girls,
Are home with broken hearts,

And I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
Now I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'

Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin' now I'm,
Free fallin'

I wanna glide down,
Over Mulholland,
I wanna write her,
Her name in the sky,
I wanna free fall,
Out into nothing,
Oh I'm gonna leave this,
This world for a while,

Now I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
Now I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
Now I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
Now I'm free,
Free Fallin', fallin'
Free fallin', fallin'
Free fallin', fallin'
Free fallin', fallin'

Look it up and listen.

Whatev.

Well, it's obviously Monday. I can tell this because of my stress level--it's gone up again. I left home this morning at 6:45a.m. and got home at 7:30p.m. this evening. Then I started my homework. It's still not complete and I have a headache. (I really need to start wearing my reading/computer glasses and then maybe I won't get these headaches as much.) I just want to go to bed. I also have a friend that I've been wanting to spend more time with the last couple of days. I sure wish I was with him right now as well. I want to talk about things other than myself. And I'm blogging, ironic.

Tomorrow shouldn't be too bad of a day. I'll go to class at 7:30a.m. and get out at 12:00. Then I'll head to the gym for my hour work out. After that it will be time to get my lesson plan in order so I can go Grantham to tutor at 3:00p.m. After that it's home to cook dinner and do more homework (no, that never ends.) No cheerleading or BGC tomorrow so I can't complain too bad.

Well, my lesson plan and webpage are still due tomorrow so I better continue on it.

Fact: I've received monthly headaches ever since I was a small girl.

"I Was Running"

I got home from work today around 4:30 and I just started running. Why was I participating in such an ambitious task you're asking yourself? Because the sun was shining. Not only because it was 4:30 and still light outside, but because it was 4:30 and there was still sun rays shining down on my face. I just wanted to be outside. I hate winter. After a month of it I get cabin fever and am tired of being locked indoors. So I started running. Like Forrest Gump. And when I got tired I ran home. I really should do that more often. Not only because it's good for my physical health but because it's good for my mental health as well. Yeah, I had (have) homework to complete, clothes to clean, and dinner to prepare, but I left all that at home and ran away for a little while. It was good.

Now the dusk is setting in so I'm coming down from my adrenaline rush as I type away. I have a little chocolate pup begging at my feet for her dinner and a mate who will be home in an hour with an empty stomach as well. That homework assignment is still due tomorrow and I believe there is a can of hops in the fridge with my name on it =) So off I go.

A Blog with My Morning Coffee

Good Morning! Is it? The day will reveal itself. I predict a decent day, if my mood can hold. I have class this morning beginning at 7:30 and ending at Noon. Then I'll head to the gym with a good book and read on the bike. This is becoming my new favorite part of the day =) After that I'll come home to clean the house and put together a meatloaf. Mommy is coming over for dinner so I'm cooking something up she doesn't even know I can make! But before dinner I'll head to cheerleading practice at 3:30. So eh, another day in paradise scheduled. The good news is it's Thursday which makes tomorrow Friday and the following day SATURDAY!--my favorite day of the week.

You know, anticipating Saturday is exactly my biggest downfall in life. You may have already picked up on this by reading my previous blogs...I live in the future. That was definitely my problem yesterday. I couldn't just enjoy the sunshine of the day because I knew it would be gone tomorrow. I'm always looking to the day, week, month, and even year(s) ahead. I can't ever just sit back and enjoy where I'm at. Like right now I'm looking to the weekend. On an even larger screen I'm looking for graduation from LC. I'm anticipating my resume, letters of recommendation, and already nervous about the interviews and getting a teaching job. I also can't stop wondering when I'm going to be wearing a ring on my left hand. I've even been thinking about when to stop taking my birth control so it can flush out of my system before Nathan and I start trying to get pregnant. And that is at least 2 years away! (Yeah, like I really have that scheduled out, who knows how far away that is or isn't) I need to stop trying to map out my life and just let it happen. I need to start living for the day. I'm aware that all my dreams may not come true. I'm not Cinder fuckin' ella. And so living this way leaves me wanting.

They say acknowledgment is the first step to recovery.

Wanting More Sunshine

The sun was shining bright today. This lifted my spirits for only a moment. I couldn't help realizing that it would be gone tomorrow.

I don't have the energy to write tonight.

Hey Coach

Coach. A new name I like to be called. It is too easy to become the enemy to a teenage girl (especially one in Jr. High.) So when she sees me and says, "Hey Coach!" I remember who I really am to her. Her coach. Coach, as in mentor, teacher, role model. So when I hear "Hey Coach" I'm reminded why I do it.

Fact: I can't turn down icecream. Ever.
